Even at the age of 60, there is a passion to spread education

Gariaband. In Sargibahli village of Devbhog tehsil, 60-year-old Diwadhar Churpal has been running a campaign for providing quality education to the children of the village for the last 10 years. This year, apart from 25 students studying in the primary school, he is teaching three students of class 6. The children lovingly call him ‘Aja’. ‘Aja’s’ class is held twice a day from 7 to 9 in the morning and from 5 to 6 in the evening. Aja’s class runs regularly.

A week ago, due to falling from a bicycle, the left leg of the elderly Diwadhar is fractured, the leg is plastered. Despite this, his classes did not stop even for a day. Sometimes classes are interrupted during rainy days, but Churpal’s dedication remains unwavering.

Even today, most of the students studying in the government schools of the village do not have basic knowledge like alphabet knowledge, multiplication table, Barhkhandi. But the children of Sargibahli village are better than the neighboring villages. Inspired by Gandhiji’s thoughts, Diwadhar Churpal made education his priority and today his efforts are not only shaping the future of the village children but have also become a source of inspiration for the society.
