Encounter: Two most wanted criminals arrested, named in about 80 incidents

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday arrested two most wanted criminals involved in about 80 cases including robbery after an encounter. The accused have been identified as Rohit Kapoor, a notorious criminal of Dwarka district, and Rinku, a history-sheeter from Khyala in West Delhi. Both are being questioned in police custody.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer said that based on the information received about the whereabouts of both of them in Madipur, Delhi, several teams were formed to cover all possible roads in the area. The suspects were seen around 4:30 am on Sunday. When they were asked to stop, they started firing.

After this, the policemen also started firing back. During this, bullets hit the bulletproof jackets of some policemen, but no one was injured. On the other hand, both the miscreants were shot in the leg in the police firing. They have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Both of them are undergoing treatment there.

The DCP said that in the last few days, some incidents of robbery have been registered in various police stations of West District, in which the miscreants stole gold ornaments from people at gunpoint or by showing daggers. These incidents have mostly happened in the morning or late at night. After these cases were registered, the police started investigation.

During this time, after examining about 300 CCTV footage, clues were found about the criminals and the vehicles used by them. Among these, a miscreant Rinku has 48 cases registered against him including armed robbery, murder, attempt to murder and Arms Act. Rohit Kapoor has been involved in more than 40 criminal cases.

According to Delhi Police Special Cell, Anu Dhankhar had got the murder done by honey trapping in Burger King restaurant in West Delhi. Gangster Himanshu Bhau is considered to be the rival of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is lodged in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat. The gangs of both are sworn enemies of each other.
