Emphasis on making Odisha a major industrial hub of the east coast, CM visits Gujarat

Odisha: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, during his three-day visit to Gujarat, emphasized the need to accelerate industrial development on the eastern seaboard. Presenting Odisha as a natural gateway for the country’s next wave of industrial growth, he appealed for increased investment and policy support.
On the second day of his visit to Gujarat, Chief Minister Majhi visited the Mundra Port and addressed key industry representatives present there. In his address, he emphasized that India’s economic progress cannot be limited to one direction and that the next phase of industrial expansion should proceed from the eastern coast.
He stated that the western coast of the country has already become a major hub for maritime trade and industrial activity, but the eastern coast is now emerging as a significant opportunity. The Chief Minister stated that Odisha is fully prepared to drive this transformation and provides the necessary ecosystem, connectivity, and policy support.
Addressing industrialists, Mohan Majhi stated that the industrial growth and success achieved on the western coast should now be replicated and further enhanced on the eastern coast. He expressed confidence that Odisha can play a key role in this direction.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Odisha’s geographical location, saying that the state’s strategic access to Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the Indo-Pacific region gives it a strong position in the global trade system. He stated that Odisha’s role is continuously expanding in the changing global supply chain landscape.
In his address, he also suggested a “two-coast strategy.” Under this strategy, he urged industry to integrate and connect their operations on both the western and eastern seaboards. He stated that this would leverage the existing strengths of the western coast while also developing new opportunities on the eastern coast.
The Chief Minister also stated that for India’s balanced industrial development, it is essential that eastern India be developed at the same level as the western coast. He appealed to investors and industrialists to invest more in Odisha.
This visit is being seen as a reflection of the Odisha government’s industrial strategy and efforts to attract investment. It is believed that in the coming times, the state government may take many new initiatives to develop the eastern coast as a major industrial and business centre.
