Electricity prices increased in Delhi, Kejriwal government said that the public will not be burdened

Because DERC i.e. Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission has accepted the demand of Power Discoms, BYPL (BSES Yamuna) and BRPL (BSES Rajdhani) in which they allowed to increase the rates. After this decision, electricity rates in BSES areas will become costlier by 10 per cent.
However, it has been said by the Delhi government that this will not directly affect the consumers of Delhi. After the consumption of electricity above 200 units, the increased charge will have to be paid. Energy Minister Atishi in the Delhi government told that the people of Delhi who get zero electricity bill, will continue to get zero electricity bill. Whether this surcharge increases or decreases.
Atishi took the central government half-handed over the rising electricity prices. He said that today the cost of electricity is increasing because due to the mismanagement of the central government, the cost of coal has become costlier in the country today. Today, for the first time in the history of 75 years of India, there has been an artificial shortage of coal, due to its shortage, the price of coal is increasing. The central government has now forced that if anyone buys coal now, he will have to use 10 percent imported coal. He said that today if the price of electricity is increasing even in a city like Delhi, then it is increasing only because of the central government.
He told that the cost of imported coal is about 10 times more than that of coal in India. If you use domestic coal, it costs around Rs 2000 a ton. The imported coal that the power companies have to use is coming at Rs 25,000 a ton. Free electricity bills up to 200 units will not matter to them. Those whose bills come without subsidy, it will not make any difference, but a surcharge of eight percent will increase on their bills. Atishi told that if a bill of 100 rupees is coming, then it will come for 108 rupees.
