Electric train services on Chennai Beach – Tambaram route partially cancelled today and on July 12

Tamil Nadu: Electric train services between Chennai Beach and Tambaram have been partially cancelled today and July 12th. This information has been provided by the Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation (CMTC). Maintenance work is being carried out on the Chennai Beach–Tambaram railway line, which will affect train services on this route in both directions from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.
During this period, suburban electric trains operating in scheduled time slots will not operate. This disruption will only occur during the maintenance work, while train services will continue as normal at other times. The railway administration has requested that passengers be informed in advance of this temporary change so they can plan their travel accordingly.
The Chennai Beach–Tambaram railway corridor is a major suburban rail route in the city, serving a large number of commuters daily. This route is heavily populated by office-goers, students, and daily commuters. In such a situation, passengers may face inconvenience due to the cancellation of trains at scheduled times.
Keeping passengers’ convenience in mind, the Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation has also made alternative arrangements. According to information, 50 additional buses will be operated on this route on July 5th and July 12th, in addition to regular bus services. These additional buses are intended to provide relief to passengers who rely on train services and travel within scheduled times.
The buses will operate on major routes where a large number of passengers travel between Chennai Beach and Tambaram. The Transport Department states that the number of additional buses has been increased to control congestion and ensure timely arrival of passengers.
Safety and track quality are being prioritized during the maintenance work. Therefore, the work has been scheduled during peak hours of the day, when train operations can be halted for a short period of time. According to officials, such maintenance work is necessary from time to time to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the railway line.
Local travelers have been urged to check train and bus schedules before traveling and plan their journeys accordingly. Passengers traveling between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. are especially advised to use alternative modes of transportation.
This temporary change on the Chennai Beach–Tambaram route will impact travel for a few days, but officials say services will resume as normal once the maintenance work is completed.
