Electric bus service in Chennai: Chief Minister will inaugurate it tomorrow

Tamil Nadu : Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will launch electric bus service in Chennai tomorrow (June 3).
The Tamil Nadu government is taking steps to run eco-friendly natural gas and electric buses as an alternative to diesel-run buses.
Under this, tenders have been issued to run electric buses in major cities including Chennai and Coimbatore and the procurement work has been expedited. In particular, tender rules have been made to ensure that only the companies manufacturing these buses operate them.
However, there is a plan to run all types of buses including regular fare buses, express buses and air-conditioned buses, in which free service will be provided to women.
In the first phase, 625 electric buses will be run in Chennai. For this, 5 workshops are being converted to operate fully electric buses.
As a result, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is going to inaugurate the service of 120 electric buses on Tuesday (June 3) and transport department officials have said that this bus service will also be expanded to major cities.
