Elderly woman murdered for jewellery: Police shoot and arrest robber
Tamil Nadu : Police on Saturday shot and arrested a robber wanted in the case of murder of an elderly woman and looting her jewellery near Kadayampatti in Omalur.
Janakraj’s wife Saraswati (68) hails from Chinnerikadu area near Omalur in Salem district. Her husband has died and she has two sons Raja (45) and Muruganandam (43).
Muruganantham is married, works in a private company and lives with his family in Palladam in Tirupur district. His another son Raja works in a jewellery shop in Salem, while Saraswati lives with Raja.
In such a situation, when Saraswati, an elderly woman who had gone to graze cows on the 20th, did not return home till 7 pm, her relatives went out in search of her. At that time, the elderly woman was brutally murdered in the garden and had serious injuries on her head.
The mysterious people also stole Saraswati’s earring and nose ring.
He informed the Thivattipatti police about this. On receiving information about the incident, DIG Uma, ADSP Somasundaram, DSP Sanjeev Kumar, Inspector Senthil and others conducted a thorough investigation. After this, fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs were called and a thorough search was conducted.
Initial police investigation revealed that the elderly woman was murdered for jewelry. After this, the police conducted a thorough investigation based on the footage recorded in CCTV cameras installed in the area.
Police investigation confirmed that Naresh Kumar, son of Raja of Katikaranur area, murdered the elderly woman and looted her.

Meanwhile, the police received information that Naresh Kumar was hiding at the foot of a mountain near Sangkiri.
After this, the police went to the foothills near Sangkiri on Saturday morning to arrest Naresh Kumar.
