Elderly man staying in passenger waiting room dies of cold

Korba. This is the third cold-related death in Chhattisgarh within 28 days. Har Prasad Bhaina (55), a resident of Saraisingar in Korba, has died. His body was found in the passenger waiting room in Kasaipali. Har Prasad was returning home on foot after attending a Chhathi ceremony in Raliya village on Tuesday.
He fell asleep in the waiting room due to fatigue from the cold night. People discovered his body on Wednesday morning. Based on the condition of the body and the circumstances at the scene, it is suspected that he died from the cold. However, the actual cause will be clear only after the postmortem report. The family did not express any suspicion or doubt. A wallet found in the deceased’s pocket, which read Har Prasad Bhaina, Saraisingar, helped the police identify him. Previously, two people had died due to the cold in Ambikapur.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted a cold wave in some areas of northern and central Chhattisgarh for the next three days. The cold wave has caused temperatures to drop below 10 degrees Celsius in many cities across the state, with the northern parts feeling the most affected. Mainpat recorded a minimum temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius.
