Efforts are being made to ensure stable income for farmers: Minister Mano Thangaraj

Tamil Nadu : Dairy Minister Mano Thangaraj said efforts should be made to create an environment in which farmers in Tamil Nadu can get a stable income.
The closing ceremony of the ‘Smart’ Dairy Farm Entrepreneurs Programme jointly organised by Kumaraguru Educational Institutions and ‘Environmental Protection Fund’ was held at Vepery in Chennai on Monday. Dairy Minister Mano Thangaraj, who was the special guest, presented certificates to 112 dairy farm entrepreneurs who received training under the programme.
Earlier at the event, the minister said:
Everyone is claiming that our country’s GDP and economy has grown. But I don’t really agree with them. In our country, only 10 per cent of the companies generate 50 per cent of the economy. As these rich companies and rich people are getting richer, nobody is benefiting.
We will become a developed country only when ordinary farmers in villages here have enough economic resources to wear clothes, three meals a day and send their children to school and college.
Loan support for all: We should strive to make agriculture a profitable industry in Tamil Nadu and create an environment where farmers can get a stable income. In this regard, Aavin provided a total loan support of Rs 1,000 crore to milk producers in the last financial year alone. Of this, Rs 350 crore was interest-free loans.
Subsequently, a target has been set to provide the necessary loan support to all milk producers in the current financial year, and work is underway for this, he said.
The event was attended by Tamil Nadu Veterinary Science University Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) K.N. Narendra Babu, Chennai Veterinary College Principal C. Sundararajan and Kumaraguru Educational Institutions Chairman Shankar Vanavare.
