ED tightens the noose in the money laundering case linked to Azam Khan and Jauhar University.

Lucknow/Rampur. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) took major action on Wednesday regarding a case of alleged financial irregularities and money laundering involving Samajwadi Party National General Secretary Mohammad Azam Khan and the Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. Separate ED teams launched simultaneous raids at multiple locations early in the morning. This operation covered around 10 locations, including Rampur and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Delhi.

ED teams arrived at the Jauhar University campus and related premises during the early hours of the morning. Officials began examining documents at the university, the Jauhar Trust, and other associated premises. During the operation, the teams scrutinized financial transactions, property-related records, trust documents, and other crucial paperwork.

According to sources, this ED action was carried out as part of an investigation into financial transactions at Jauhar University and its affiliated institutions. The investigative agency has been probing various aspects of this matter for a long time; Wednesday’s raids are considered the next phase of this ongoing investigation.

Operation Lasted from Morning till Night

The ED operation continued for approximately 16 hours. Throughout the day, teams combed through records at various premises. Officials gathered information from computers, documents, and financial records. Extensive security arrangements were also put in place during the raids.

Around 10:30 PM, ED teams departed from Jauhar University, the Jauhar Trust, and other related locations, taking certain documents with them. Subsequently, the teams left for Lucknow. However, the investigative agency has not officially shared any detailed information regarding the documents seized or the findings of the investigation so far.

Investigation into Jauhar University and the Trust

Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University is a private university located in Rampur, established by the Jauhar Trust, which is associated with Azam Khan. Several controversies regarding the university and the trust have surfaced over the past few years. Investigative agencies have been probing aspects related to land, financial transactions, and other matters.

The ED’s investigation is focusing on aspects related to alleged financial irregularities and money laundering. The agency is attempting to ascertain the source of the funds, the nature of the transactions, and whether any regulations were violated.

Azam Khan has faced scrutiny in the past

Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been in the spotlight over various legal issues in recent years. Investigations and cases have been registered against him regarding allegations such as land issues, construction irregularities, and the misuse of government resources.

Various allegations have also been leveled against Azam Khan and his family members in connection with matters related to Jauhar University. However, the Samajwadi Party and Azam Khan’s camp have consistently maintained that these allegations are politically motivated.

SP questions the action taken

Following the ED’s action, the Samajwadi Party is likely to target the central and state governments. SP leaders have alleged that investigative agencies are being used to harass opposition leaders. Conversely, the investigative agencies maintain that they are acting in accordance with legal procedures.

Focus on further investigation

Following Wednesday’s raids, the ED will now examine the seized documents and records. If officials uncover significant facts during the investigation, further questioning or other actions may follow.

As of now, the ED has not issued any final conclusion regarding the matter. Only after the investigation is complete will it become clear what new facts emerge from the documents and other materials recovered during the raids.

The ED’s action regarding Azam Khan and Jauhar University has once again stirred up political and administrative circles. All eyes will remain fixed on the direction of the investigation and any potential subsequent actions in the coming days.
