Dwarka lawyer murder accused arrested from Sonipat

New Delhi (IANS) | After a chase of hundreds of kilometers in the NCR and Uttar Pradesh, the Delhi Police has finally arrested the man from Haryana’s Sonepat who shot dead a lawyer in Delhi’s Dwarka recently, an official said on Saturday. Gave this information to The accused has been identified as Pradeep alias Praveen (39), a resident of Narela. He has earlier also been found involved in 12 criminal cases registered across the city.

On April 1, a 53-year-old lawyer was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in Delhi’s Dwarka area. The official said that the deceased was identified as Virendra Kumar, a resident of Sector-12, Dwarka and his security was withdrawn in 2021 after following due process.

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said that during the investigation it emerged that Pradeep and Naresh were involved in the incident, there was a dispute going on between them and the deceased. The Special CP said, in view of the sensitivity of the case, various teams of the crime branch were also tasked to trace and arrest the accused persons. The accused switched off the phone and did not use any gadget.

While gathering information, the police team came to know that the suspect Pradeep was driving a white colored Accent car. To track him, the team immediately sent personnel to all possible exit points, toll booths and border areas equipped with cameras, said the Special CP.

The officer said- Policemen have been deployed at toll booths along the possible routes. Despite the accused constantly changing his location, the team developed the information manually and followed him through NCR, UP and Haryana, traveling hundreds of kilometers every day. Eventually Pradeep was arrested from Bhalgarh area of Sonipat.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the family of the accused had a property dispute with Virendra. Pradeep along with his associates tried to kill the deceased advocate in 2017, for which a case was registered at Prashant Vihar police station, the officer said.
