During the operation, the doctors left bandages on the woman’s stomach, her condition worsened
Uttar Pradesh. A serious case of medical negligence has come to light at Wellness Hospital located in Hapur. During an appendix operation, doctors allegedly left cotton and bandages in the stomach of a woman, leaving her in a critical condition. The negligence came to light when the woman’s family got her treated at another hospital. The incident sparked outrage among the people, leading to a protest outside the hospital and the doctors fled from the spot. Police were called in to calm the situation late at night. The matter started when Tinku, a member of the Nirashraya Seva Samiti located at Railway Road, said that his wife Poonam fell ill about 20 days ago. Doctors at Wellness Hospital diagnosed her with appendicitis and advised surgery. Poonam was admitted to the hospital 15 days ago and underwent an operation 13 days ago. She was discharged six days after the surgery. However, complications soon arose. Poonam’s stitches started oozing pus and Tinku kept taking her to Wellness Hospital repeatedly to change the dressing. When her condition worsened on Wednesday, Tinku took her to another hospital. A thorough examination there revealed that the doctors at Wellness Hospital had left cotton and bandages in her abdomen during the operation, leading to infection. The new medical team removed the stitches and removed foreign matter from the abdomen.
