During the meeting of BRS, fire broke out in the hut, two workers died in cylinder blast
Hyderabad (IANS) | Two party workers were killed and a few others injured when a cooking gas cylinder exploded in a neighboring shanty set ablaze due to fireworks during a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) meeting in Telangana’s Khammam district. The incident took place in Chimalapadu village of Karpalli mandal in Vaira assembly constituency.
During the ongoing BRS Athmia Sammelan, some party workers burst crackers. A nearby hut caught fire when one of the burning crackers fell. Two people died and six others were injured when a LPG cylinder exploded in the hut that started the fire.
The injured included a policeman and two journalists. Some of the injured lost their arms and legs in the blast.
The deceased have been identified as Bonuth Ramesh and Angotu Mangu.
BRS workers burst crackers to welcome party leaders, including Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao and MLA Ramulu Naik.
The incident spread panic among the people. The injured were taken to the government hospital in the vehicles of the BRS leaders.
Nageswara Rao told media persons that the incident had nothing to do with the party meeting. The incident took place 200 meters away from the meeting place.
The MP directed the doctors to provide better treatment to the injured and if required, send them to Hyderabad. He assured all possible help to the victims.
Meanwhile, BRS President and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed deep sorrow and grief over this sad incident.
On receiving information about the death of two workers and serious injuries to several others in a cylinder blast at the BRS Athmiya Sammelan, the Chief Minister called Khammam district minister P. Ajay and MP Nageswara Rao over the phone and inquired about the details.
The Chief Minister assured that all assistance would be provided to the bereaved families of the deceased party workers. He directed the officials to provide better medical treatment to the injured.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao also expressed grief over the incident and assured all possible help to the families of the dead and injured.
