Due to greed for a diamond ring, a woman was cheated of Rs 6 lakhs

Bilaspur. Another case of cyber fraud has come to light from the district where a girl was cheated of Rs 6.25 lakh on the pretext of sending a valuable gift. This incident is from City Kotwali police station area where a case of fraud has been registered on the complaint of the victim girl.
According to the information, the accused first contacted the girl through social media and built a relationship of trust by claiming friendship from abroad. A few days later, the accused told the girl that he is sending her a diamond ring and other expensive items as a gift. A few days later, the girl received a call in which a person claiming to be a customs officer said that there are expensive jewelry in the parcel and to release it, payment will have to be made as custom duty. Falling into the trap, the girl transferred a total of Rs 6 lakh 25 thousand to different bank accounts. But when the gift did not arrive and the phone numbers were switched off, she realized that she had been cheated. After this, the victim lodged a report at the City Kotwali police station.
