DRG jawans accused of beating tribal by tying his hands and legs

Narayanpur. In Abujhmad of the district, once again the tribals have accused the DRG police personnel of assault. On the morning of March 20 in Konge Pangur area, tribal youth Sunker Mettami was going to the forest to pluck Chhind leaves. District Reserve Guard i.e. DRG personnel were already present there. They caught Sunaker Mettami and tied his hands. Meanwhile, an attempt was made to stuff leaves in Sunker Mettami’s mouth so that he could not make noise in the forest.

Rameen also told that when Sunker Mettami’s wife Mingri Bai came to request her husband to leave her, DRG soldiers also beat her up. Amidst the fighting in the forest, the women of Pangur village also reached there. He also protested against the arrest of the tribal youth and asked the soldiers the reason, then he was also beaten up.

Jimmy Bai, Bully Bai Nuroti and Murray Bai Mettami, who were victims of this assault, said that the DRG soldiers had assaulted them without any reason. However, due to opposition from the villagers, the police left Sunaker Mettami in the forest and moved ahead. Sunaker Mettami has three children and supports his family with forest produce. The livelihood of these tribals depends only on the forest produce obtained from the forest.
