Draft voters’ list released in Assam, 10.56 lakh voters left out

Assam: Following a special revision of the voter list, the names of 10.56 lakh people have been removed from the list.

A special revision of the voter list was carried out in Assam from November 22nd to December 20th. In this regard, the Election Commission released the draft voter list for the state on Saturday.

According to that list, there are a total of 25,109,754 voters in the state. 10,56,291 voters have been removed. Of these, 478,992 have died. 523,680 have moved from their registered address. 53,619 people have been found registered in more than one place.

In addition, 93,021 people have been identified as suspected voters. Those who lacked sufficient evidence to prove their citizenship have been added to the category of suspected voters after being excluded from voting. Now that the draft voter list has been published, voters can submit their requests and objections to the Election Commission until January 22 next year. The final voter list will be published on February 10.
