Double honour: Goa shines at Patwa Travel Awards in Berlin

Panjim: Goa Tourism won the ‘Destination of the Year’ award at the prestigious Patwa Travel Awards ceremony at ITB Berlin, recognizing the state’s captivating cultural heritage and welcoming charm that continues to attract travelers from across the world.

Additionally, Tourism Minister Rohan A Khaunte was awarded ‘Tourism Minister of the Year’ at the PATWA Travel Awards. The honor acknowledges Khaunte’s visionary leadership and dedication to promoting sustainable tourism in Goa, which significantly contributes to the socio-economic development of the region.
Secretary (Tourism) Sanjeev Ahuja, IAS received the awards during a ceremony in Berlin, Germany. Ahuja expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized Goa Tourism’s efforts in showcasing the state’s diverse attractions and commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
Goa has taken a pioneering step in India by adopting regenerative tourism incorporating aspects of spiritual tourism as part of its tourism strategy. These initiatives aim to revive and enhance the natural and cultural assets of the state, thereby providing a holistic and enriching experience to visitors.
The Department of Tourism is dedicated to promoting sustainable and regenerative tourism practices, improving visitor experiences and strengthening Goa’s position as a leading global destination.
