Dombivli: Contaminated water is being supplied in these areas for the last few days
Maharashtra: Kranti Vyapam Sankul, Navapada, Subhash Road to Chinchodyachapaada, Kumbharkhanpada areas in the western part of Subhash Road are getting contaminated water supply for the last few days. As this contaminated water is causing health issues, citizens have demanded that the Municipal Corporation take immediate steps in this regard. Due to increasing complaints from citizens about the supply of contaminated water in Subhash Road, Navapada to Kumbharkhan Pada, Chinchodyachapaada area in Dombivli West, social activist Prahlad Mhatre has written a letter to the Assistant Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, demanding immediate arrangement for the supply of contaminated water. MMRDA is carrying out two-way sewer construction work in Subhash Road area. Cement concrete roads will be built in this area soon. MMRDA is carrying out sewer construction work in this area first.
While digging the sewer, water channels going to houses and societies have broken at many places due to the impact of JCB. These water channels are adjacent to the sewer. Complainant Prahlad Mhatre told that when the flow of sewage water in the sewer increases, that water directly enters the waterways. This contaminated water reaches the houses. Contaminated water is being supplied to many societies and bungalows like Vishwambhar Darshan, Yashraj, Sudama, Ghanshyam, Matriprerana, Umakant Niwas, Kulkarni Sadan, Neelkanth. There is a fear of getting serious health problems by drinking this water. Prahlad Mhatre has demanded that the contractor should be given a stipend for doing the digging work done during the sewerage works properly. We are not against development works, but the troubles faced by citizens while doing these works will not be tolerated.
Otherwise the option of agitation is open, Mhatre has warned the administration. MMRDA is carrying out sewer construction work in Subhash Road area of Dombivli West. During this work, water pipes have burst while digging at some places. As soon as complaints of burst water pipes are received, they are being repaired. Now clean water is being supplied to the citizens.
