Doctor arrested for getting job by giving fake caste certificate

Bhubaneswar: Koraput police in Odisha have arrested a senior doctor for obtaining a job at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur in Ganjam district by producing a false caste certificate. Accused Dr Durgadutt Sasani is a resident of Samabaya Colony in Semiliguda area of tribal dominated Koraput district. Durgadutt is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anaesthesiology, MKCG Medical College, Berhampur. He was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the case registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by his younger brother on July 20, 2023. The complainant had alleged that Durga Dutt, originally from the Brahmin caste, studied till graduation in the Faculty of Arts as a general category student. He also did D Pharma course in a college in Bhubaneswar under general category with his original identity. According to the complaint, Durgadutt allegedly obtained a fake certificate claiming himself to be a tribal. She allegedly took admission in the MBBS course in 2006 and a three-year specialization course in 2014 at MKCG Medical College using fake caste certificates. He is reportedly working as an assistant professor in the department of anesthesiology of the medical college since 2021. “In 2003, the accused managed to obtain a false caste certificate under the surname Jani by showing himself as the son of a Scheduled Tribe person in Mandarguda village,” a local police officer said. Police officials claimed that the accused later studied Class X, +2 regular course in Science stream through distance education at BJB College, Bhubaneswar with fake certificates.
