Do we really need such headlines?

India is known for its diversity. India is a great country which has been incorporating various civilizations in itself. India has a diverse range of cultures and languages. When we say that India is a secular country, it means that India does not have its own official religion, but it treats all religions equally. Siasat daily newspaper recently published a report with the title “Hate Tracker 2002: Anti-Muslim incidents across India: Here it is”. It would be fair to say that by the end of the year 2022, intolerance has strengthened its presence in the country. The Indian American Muslim Council had also shared the same on its Facebook page. Such negative headlines question the essence of our Constitution, which is based on democratic and secular values. It seems that the media believes in the adage “if it bleeds, it leads” and operates by principles such as this. Extreme events, especially those related to religious extremism, are often the subject of news reports. As part of normal human behavior, minorities tend to become more separatist fanatics when exposed to and complicit in events about the supremacy of the majority population over the minority. While constructive criticism is valued, destructive criticism will highlight social ills and mislead minorities into believing that the country is not for them, which is not the case. All the good cannot be hidden by a few mistakes.
