DMK made Kathir Anand its candidate from Vellore Lok Sabha seat
Chennai: DMK has fielded sitting MP from Vellore Lok Sabha constituency of Tamil Nadu, D.M. Made Kathir Anand its candidate. Kathir Anand is contesting from this seat for the second time. Kathir Anand is the son of DMK (DMK) general secretary and Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister S Duraimurugan. He is considered a close confidant of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. The DMK leader had won the Vellore Lok Sabha seat in 2019 by a margin of 8 thousand 142 votes. He defeated AIADMK (AIADMK) candidate A.C. Shanmugam was defeated. Interestingly, by-election was held in Vellore in 2019 on August 8 as President Draupadi Murmu canceled the elections in Vellore along with other Lok Sabha seats following the recommendations of the Election Commission. The Election Commission had said that elections could not be held along with other Lok Sabha seats as Rs 11.5 crore was seized from Thoothukudi. The arrested accused person had revealed that the money was meant to influence the voters of Vellore constituency. AIADMK has not yet announced its candidate for Vellore Lok Sabha constituency. However, the party has released the first list of 16 candidates on Wednesday.
