District Excise Officer held a meeting of officers early in the morning

In compliance with the instructions given by Sangeeta and under the guidance of Collector Prabhat Malik, District Excise Officer Mohit Jaiswal held a review meeting of all the excise officers of the district in the Collectorate on Saturday, in which necessary action was taken for meeting the target of excise revenue and effective control on excise crimes. Instructions were given in this regard.


Excise Department holds an important place among the revenue earning departments of the state. In Mahasamund district, against the excise revenue target of Rs 163.27 crore set for the year 2023-24, a revenue of Rs 113.69 crore has been earned in the month of December 2023. To achieve 100% target of excise revenue, regular review of revenue, systematic operation of liquor shops in the district and effective control on illegal liquor are essential.


All the excise officers of the district should strengthen the information system in their charge area and keep effective control on illegal manufacturing, possession, storage, transportation and sale of liquor by conducting continuous patrolling and intensive raids and take joint action by necessary coordination with the police department. Complaints related to illicit liquor should be taken seriously and if the complaint is confirmed in the investigation, effective action should be taken immediately under the provisions of the Excise Act. The investigation of cases registered against excise crimes should be completed immediately as per the rules and presented in the competent court.


All the liquor shops in the district are being operated by Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited, a state government undertaking. In view of excise revenue security and in the commercial interest of the Corporation, adequate availability of liquor in liquor shops, sale at fixed rates, fixed sales limit per person and other standards should be strictly followed.

Deployment of security guards in liquor shops, regular presence of placement employees in prescribed uniform, arrangement of adequate counters, up-to-date maintenance of daily liquor stock register and other records should be ensured. Smooth operation of CCTV cameras installed in liquor shops and safe maintenance of minimum 15 days backup should be ensured. Surprise checks of liquor shops should be conducted from time to time and strict action should be taken if any irregularity is found.
