District court gave strict punishment to ganja smugglers, they will remain in jail for 5 years

Mahasamund. In an NDPS case, Special Judge Sanghpushpa Bhatpahari has sentenced Baisakhu Yadav and Gurucharan Vishwakarma, living near Nayapara Nursery Mahasamund, to 5-5 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 each.

Failure to pay the fine will result in additional imprisonment of 6 months. According to the prosecution, on September 1, 2023, both of them were caught by the police while illegally transporting ganja at Barabaspur Chowk of Birkoni located on NH 53 under Mahasamund police station area. Police had seized a total of 5 kg 150 grams of ganja from their joint possession. After deliberation the matter was handed over to the court. Special Public Prosecutor Jitendra Kumar Sahu appeared on behalf of the prosecution.
