Dispute between Kerala Police and KSEB over dues
Thiruvananthapuram (IANS) | A tussle has broken out between the state police and the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) over non-payment of dues. The problem started when the KSEB sent attachment notices to the Kerala Police saying that several police stations have not paid electricity bills for a long time. It pointed out that the payment to the Kerala Armed Police Battalion was due for the period 2004 to 2009. Angered by the attachment notice, the police headquarters wrote to KSEB demanding Rs 130 crore, which it owes to the police for the services rendered by the police in providing security to dams and KSEB offices.
The two state departments are against each other, the matter is now before the Kerala government and talks have started at the highest level to resolve the issue.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan holds the home portfolio, JD(S)’s K Krishnakutty is the state energy minister.
