Disproportionate Assets worth over Rs 3.10 crore of former Jharsuguda Sub-Collector Pradeep Kumar Barik confiscated

Bhubaneswar: Disproportionate Assets (DA) worth over Rs 3.10 crore of former Jharsuguda Sub-Collector Pradeep Kumar Barik, who was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance, has been confiscated.

The Odisha Vigilance in a press release informed that in a Confiscation Case filed by Odisha Vigilance, today, i.e. on 11.02.2025, the competent authority, Confiscation Court (Authorised Officer’s Court), Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, passed order for confiscating the immovable and movable assets to the tune of Rs 3,10,82,815 of Pradeep Kumar Barik, former Sub-Collector, Jharsuguda, which includes immovable assets i.e.1 multi storeyed building & 2 numbers of plots at Bhubaneswar, and movable assets (Cash & Gold).

Earlier, Pradeep Kumar Barik who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) PC Act. 1988/109 IPC for possession of above referred assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, was convicted by Special Court, Bhubaneswar on 13.09.2024 and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs 1 Lakh, it added.

Following conviction of Barik, Odisha Vigilance has moved the competent authority for stoppage of his pension.

Mangra Kujur, Ex-DSP, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division had investigated the case and Manas Ranjan Mishra, Special Public Persecutor, Court of Authorized Officer, Special Court, Bhubaneswar conducting the case on behalf of Odisha Vigilance.
