Dharmendra Pradhan attends the inauguration ceremony of Kala Utsav 2023

New Delhi: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday attended the inauguration ceremony of Kala Utsav 2023 and said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is preparing the next. A generation that achieves big goals in the spirit of nation and society.

Speaking at the event, Pradhan mentioned how the festival adds to the cultural diversity of India by nurturing the creative and artistic talents of school students, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dharmendra Pradhan also mentioned how the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) promotes play-based education, sports, arts, crafts and all other creative endeavors to hone the talents and skills of children, their all-round development and develop them. Will bring it into the mainstream.

He also said that deep human emotions like compassion, empathy etc. do not come from textbooks but from life experiences.

Speaking at the event, Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi mentioned how Prime Minister Narendra Modi has realized the unlimited potential of the country’s children while conceptualizing his vision for a developed India 2047.
He expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister for introducing the art. NEP2020 includes integrated education that will bring out the true potential of children.

“Incorporating traditional art forms, toys and games into the art festival will help them grow and reach the next generation,” he said. “If art is introduced during primary education, it also helps in inculcating discipline in children.”
Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, in his speech said that areas like humanities, science, sports and arts should be integrated for comprehensive and all-round development of students. The National Curriculum Framework addresses all these aspects within the scope of foundational education and numeracy.

“‘Kala Utsav’ is full of excitement and joy, where children get a chance to connect with the rich cultural diversity of India, showcasing the ancient vision of Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat,” he said. The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) are organizing Kala Utsav 2023 at National Bal Bhavan and Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi from 9-12 January 2024.
