Devotees flock to Gundicha temple in Puri for darshan of Lord Jagannath

Puri: On the fifth day of the world-famous Rath Yatra Festival today, thousands of devotees gathered at the Gundicha Temple to catch a glimpse of Lord Jagannath, and the sibling deities at the Adapa Mandapa. The temple premises was filled with devotees eager to have darshan of the Lord at the Janmavedi (birth place).

On this occasion, Kotha Bhoga was prepared for Mahaprabhu using organic rice. Devotees considered themselves fortunate to receive Adap Abadha, a sacred offering, at the Adap Mandap. For the first time in Srigundicha Temple, Mahaprasad was prepared for devotees using organic rice.

Devotees waited patiently in long queues, passing through zig-zag barricades, to enter the Gundicha Temple through the Singhdwar and exit through the Nakachana dwar exit. The devotees were seen having darshan of Chaturdhabigraha at a long barricade.

Meanwhile, special arrangements have been made for the orderly darshan of devotees at the Sri Gundicha temple. Both ‘Baradi Abadha’ and ‘Adapa Abadha’ have been prepared for devotees. The Pragati Institute of Koraput provided Kotha Bhoga, which included various types of cakes (pitha) prepared with organic rice.

In the evening, on the holy Hera Panchami, there is a tradition of breaking the Nandighosh Rath by Maa Mahalakshmi.

The three chariots of Mahaprabhu is turned south (Dakhina moda) after Heera Panchami. The Chief Minister’s advisor has assured that an orderly Rath Yatra will be held with everyone’s cooperation, and all arrangements have been made for devotees coming from far away.
