Demanded money by threatening to defame female friend, young man arrested
Raigarh. The young man has been arrested. A written complaint was lodged in the police station by a girl living under Tamnar police station area about her friend Devnarayan Nayak calling her on mobile and demanding money by threatening to prove her characterless on social media. On March 28, the victim girl gave a written application at Tamnar police station for action against the accused Devnarayan Nayak and said that she had studied with Devnarayan and hence she knew him. Without her knowledge, Devnarayan Nayak created an ID on Instagram using her photo and name in which he uploaded many objectionable photos and videos and with this ID he sent friend requests to many people and started sending inappropriate messages to the girl’s acquaintances. .
Meanwhile, on the morning of March 3, Devnarayan Nayak called the girl and threatened her that she would have to pay ₹ 50,000 otherwise he would prove her characterless on social media and ruin her life. Even after the girl requested him not to do so, Devnarayan was contacting the girl’s acquaintances with fake IDs. On March 28, the victim girl submitted a written complaint for action against Devnarayan, on which police station in-charge Tamnar Inspector Ashirwad Rahatgaonkar registered the crime under section 384 IPC 66 (c), 67 IT Act under crime number 103/2024 under the guidance of senior officers. Raids were launched to trace and arrest the accused. The accused youth was absconding from the village due to fear of arrest. Last night, on the information that the accused was seen in his village, Tamnar police raided and took him into custody, after questioning he confessed to his crime. The screen shot of the message sent by the accused youth to the girl and the mobile phone of the accused were seized as evidence and after informing the family members of the accused about his arrest, he was arrested for the crime and sent on judicial remand today.
