Delivery network hit hard in Kerala, Uber and food apps shut down

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Online taxi and gig workers in the state will go on an indefinite strike from Tuesday. The strike is against the anti-worker policies initiated by platforms, including Uber. As part of this, the Uber app will be offline across the state from February 17 to 19.
A three-day app boycott has been announced under the leadership of the joint committee. Apart from Uber drivers, Zomato, Swiggy and Amazon workers are also participating in the strike. The main demands of the protesters include ensuring minimum taxi fares on the platforms, reducing the daily subscription fee of Rs 165, and ending the blocking of accounts without warning.As part of the strike, a protest rally has been organised from Palayam to the Secretariat at 10 am tomorrow. The rally will be inaugurated by MLA PC Vishnunath.
