Delhi The opposition staged a walkout in the Rajya Sabha.

New Delhi: The Congress-led opposition staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha on Thursday after Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge was not allowed to quote from a “memoir” by former Army chief M M Naravane on the 2020 India-China conflict.
Immediately after the papers were laid in the Upper House, the Chair called upon a member to raise their issue during Zero Hour. Meanwhile, Congress members began demanding that Kharge be allowed to speak first. A heated exchange ensued between members of the ruling party and the opposition after Kharge stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was not being allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha.
Kharge also attempted to highlight that the Lok Sabha was not functioning properly. He said that both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha are pillars of democracy, and the ruling party was not allowing democracy to function.
His allegations were strongly protested by members of the ruling party.
When Kharge attempted to quote from Naravane’s unpublished book, members of the ruling party objected.
Amidst the uproar, members of several opposition parties – Congress, TMC, AAP, CPI, and CPI-M – staged a walkout.
