Debt Trouble: Mother of two children commits suicide by jumping into a well

Tamil Nadu: A mother, along with her daughter and son, committed suicide by jumping into a well in the Madambakkam area near Kuduvancheri due to debt problems.

Shamsiya (26), a resident of the Vallalar Nagar area of ​​Madambakkam near Kuduvancheri, had a 10-year-old daughter, Aashiba, and a 6-year-old son, Aftar. On Thursday, Shamsiya, along with her daughter and son, committed suicide by jumping into a private well near the Kuduvancheri Madambakkam Main Road. Locals saw Shamsiya jumping into the well with her children and informed the Padappai police station and fire station.

The Pattapalli Fire Department arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies of Shamsiya and her children from the well.

The Padappai police registered a case and investigated the incident. It turned out that Shamsiya’s husband, Asif, had died a year earlier, and she was planning to commit suicide due to heavy debt. She had left a note stating that no one was responsible for her death.

The incident of a mother committing suicide by jumping into a well with her children due to debt has saddened the general public in the area.
