Daughter-in-law harassed for not getting car as dowry, case registered against in-laws

Korba. The married woman has alleged harassment against three people including her husband and mother-in-law for not giving her Rs 5 lakh in cash and a car after marriage. The police have taken the matter under investigation. The married woman, a resident of Podi Bahar, told the police that she was married to a young man living in Budhwari area on December 4, 2022 as per social customs.

After a few days of marriage, she started being harassed by her mother-in-law, husband and brother-in-law in the name of dowry. She alleged that her mother-in-law used to harass her continuously and when she informed her husband about it, the husband also took his mother’s side and used to abuse and beat her.

Also, they would harass her by saying that she would not give Rs 5 lakh in dowry or a car during the marriage. Tired of repeated torture, she finally left home and came to her maternal home. On the complaint of the married woman, the police have registered a case against the husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.
