Daily Listening To Music For 24 Minutes Will Be Good For Mental Health

Everyone knows that listening to music is generally calming. But a recent clinical trial has revealed that just 24 minutes of listening to specially designed music can significantly reduce anxiety. Researchers say it is an easy way to control stress without medication. In this research, conducted by scientists at Toronto Metropolitan University in Canada, music was combined with a method called auditory beat stimulation (ABS). In this, the brain creates a rhythm by playing slightly different sound waves to each ear. This rhythm affects brain waves and creates a state conducive to relaxation, concentration or sleep.

Why only 24 minutes?

As part of the research, participants listened to specially designed audios for different periods of time. In these tests, it was found that 24 minutes of listening time gave the best results. After this period, the participants reported feeling calmer, less stressed, and emotionally balanced. Another important aspect of this study is the concept of the sweet spot. Although some benefit was seen even after listening to music for a short period of time, it was not significant. Similarly, listening for a longer period of time did not provide any additional benefit. Therefore, 24 minutes was found to be the most effective time. Anxiety is a major mental health problem that is growing worldwide. This approach is also useful for those who are looking for alternatives to medication. The main advantages of music-based therapies are that they are easily accessible, inexpensive, and easy to implement in daily life.

The best way for mental health..

Scientists have also revealed some interesting things about how music works on the brain. Listening to music reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol. The parts of the brain associated with pleasure and reward are activated. Heart rate and breathing are also controlled. This effect is further enhanced when combined with methods such as ABS. However, this research also has some limitations. It only focused on short-term effects. It remains to be seen whether these benefits will last in the long term. In addition, researchers say that since each person responds differently to music, the results may not be the same for everyone. They say that listening to calm music for 20 to 30 minutes a day when feeling stressed or anxious may be an easy, safe way to relieve stress. While this is not a complete solution for serious problems, experts suggest that it can be used in combination with other methods such as mindfulness, exercise, and therapy.
