Bhubaneswar: The loss due to cyclone ‘DANA’ and the following floods that affected about 14 districts of Odisha is approximately Rs 600 crores, said Suresh Pujari, the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister of Odisha on Monday.

On the damage assessment report after cyclone ‘Dana’, Pujari said, “As an aftermath of cyclone ‘Dana’ and the following floods, 14 districts in Odisha have been affected. Several departments of the government have also been affected… Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Baleswar, and surrounding districts have been most affected… We are analysing the damage… The loss amounts to approximately Rs 600 crores…” ANI wrote in an X post on Monday.

The Minister said that the loss assessment report is yet to be received only by the Panchayatiraj department. All other departments have received the said damage reports.

According to the preliminary estimates, the loss is around 600 crore rupees. Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapara districts are worst affected. Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack are also affected.

As many as 131 blocks of 14 districts have been affected, 1141 lakh people of 637 villages have been affected. A total of 16, 417 houses were affected and 27 houses were completely damaged.

The report further says that 14,680 houses have been partially damaged. On a departmental basis, the power sector is the worst hit. The actual damage will be clear when the final report will come. After receiving the report, assistance will be provided to the affected people.
