Cyclone: 14 people died due to Cyclone Gaimen in Madagascar

Antananarivo: 14 people have died and three have been injured as Cyclone Gaiman hits Madagascar. Three people are still missing. This information was given by the meteorological officials of Madagascar. Madagascar’s National Risk and Disaster Management Office (BNGRC) said Thursday that Gamen made landfall on the northern tip of Madagascar on Wednesday morning, Xinhua news agency reported. Winds blew at a speed of 150 km per hour and there was heavy rain. 36,307 people including 9,024 houses were affected by the cyclone. About 18,565 people or 4,849 families were forced to evacuate to 68 emergency sites spread across different areas and seek shelter elsewhere. According to the BNGRC, flooding from Cyclone Gaimen caused widespread damage. 6,675 houses and 1,698 paddy fields were submerged. 617 houses were completely destroyed.
