Crime rate in Cyberabad to increase by 15 percent in 2023

Hyderabad: The crime rate in Cyberabad will increase by about 15 percent in the year 2023 and officials attribute this to the increase in population in the area. A total of 29,156 cases were reported in 2023, while the number was 27,322 last year. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty said economic crimes and cyber crimes have increased, while traditional crimes have decreased. “Due to various reasons there is a transition from traditional crimes to economic crimes and cyber crime. Whenever any crime is reported, we register a case and investigate”, said the Cyberabad CP. Cyberabad has seen a decline in the cases of traffic accidents and 3143 cases were recorded in 2023, while 3224 cases were recorded last year. “The police have managed to reduce the total number of traffic accidents due to identification of black spots and adoption of corrective measures. “At the beginning of the year, we had identified 40 black spots and then by taking measures in coordination with various agencies, we reduced them to 32,” the official said. The efforts supported by the police will help in enhancing recovery of property in theft and dacoity cases. Avinash Mohanty said, “There has been an increase of about 10 percent in the recovery of stolen goods.” On the crime front against women, there has been a significant decline in rape cases. A total of 259 people complained of sexual harassment in 2023, while last year the police had registered 316 cases.
