Couple duped of Rs 7000, putting thumb impression on thumb machine proved costly

Bilaspur. Ramayan Das is a farmer living in Gram Panchayat Pudu Lamanajhal of Ratanpur area. He told the police that when he was at home with his wife Savitri Bai, two persons came there. They said that they will make a PAN card for free. Also, the youths said that PAN card will be useful for bank loan and other purposes. On being told the importance of PAN card, Ramayan Das agreed to get a PAN card made.

The youths asked him for details of his Aadhaar card and bank account. After this, his thumb impression was taken on the thumb machine. After taking the thumb impression, the youths left saying that they will give the PAN card soon. A few days later, when Ramayan went to withdraw money from the bank, he found out that Rs 2950 had been withdrawn from his account.

When the operator of the kiosk center inquired, he gave information about the youths who came to get the PAN card made. Then the kiosk center operator informed him about the fraud. On this, he checked the account of his wife Savitri Bai. The fraudsters had withdrawn Rs 7,900 from this account. The victim has lodged a complaint about the entire matter at Ratanpur police station. On this, the police have registered a crime and taken the matter under investigation.
