Congressmen abused in the election office, arrests soon
Raigarh. On the last day of withdrawal of nominations in the urban body elections, there was a ruckus in front of the Raigarh District Election Officer. Angry with the withdrawal of nominations of party candidates one after the other, the Congress members abused the BJP members and even pushed them, only fighting was left.
There were speculations of a direct contest between the BJP and the Congress in the 48 wards of Raigarh Municipal Corporation, but just before the voting, two Congress candidates have given a walkover to the BJP candidates by leaving the field. The third candidate was also preparing to withdraw his nomination, but he quietly returned when the Congress members created a ruckus in the election office.
On the withdrawal of the names of the candidates, District Congress President Anil Shukla, State General Secretary Rakesh Pandey and other Congress members not only raised slogans in front of the Returning Officer’s office but also clashed with the BJP members, abusing and pushing them. A fight was narrowly avoided. When Raigarh SDM Praveen Tiwari was questioned about the abuse and clash in front of the election office, he said that the entire matter will be investigated and if needed, action will also be taken against the concerned leaders.
