Ration card holds significance as an identity card for the public distribution system (PDS) of the government. Moving in the path of Digital India, the Digital ration cards can now be downloaded from the comfort of your homes.

Under the ‘One Nation, One ration card’ (ONOR) this ration card is expected to bring transparency in the allocation of food under the PDS.

What is Digital Ration card?
It is an e-copy of the traditional ration card that can be downloaded and produced at the fair price shops (FPS). It can be downloaded on the ‘Mera Ration 2.0’ app also. It is launched by the Government of India.

You can update your personal information on the app
You can know information about your status of your FPS
You can add or remove your family members on the app
How to download ration card:
Download the Mera Ration 2.0 app
Enter your Aadhar number and the captcha on the screen
Click on the verify button after which you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
Enter the OTP and verify.
Your digital ration card will be available on the screen. You can take a print for future use or simply save it as it is.

Click on online services and a drop down menu opens
Select on Transparency portal from the online services
Then from the citizen services category you can download the ration card
You can access the digital ration card as and when need and it is completely valid. You do not have to worry about losing the physical card or misplacing it. It will be of utmost help for the migrant workers. It can be forged and saves the beneficiary from the fraud. It also provides a transparency in the PDS system.
