Collector received complaint in Jandarshan, Excise Department raided
Mahasamund. Collector Vinay Kumar Langeh received complaint of illegal sale and manufacture of liquor from villagers in Jandarshan program organized on Tuesday. Collector assured the villagers that immediate action will be taken after investigation. In this regard, he had instructed the Excise Department to go to the spot and take action.
Under the direction of Collector, Excise and Food Department team went to the spot and took action this morning. Under the guidance of District Excise Officer Nidhish Koshti and Divisional Incharge Deepak Thakur, in the Excise Circle Sankara, in Sarar on the banks of Antara Drain in village Ansula, a total of 408 litres of Mahua liquor in white plastic polythene, with market value of Rs. 81600 and Mahua Lahan in 23 blue coloured plastic cans, each containing 250 kg, total 5750 kg, market value Rs. 2,87,500, with total market value of Rs. 3,69,100, worth of liquor and material were recovered and seizure action was taken.
Along with this, 7 gas cylinders and 5 stove sets were seized by the Food Department. Upon investigation regarding the said material and liquor, the ownership could not be ascertained. Following investigation, the Mahua liquor was seized and the Mahua Lahan was destroyed on the spot. A case was registered and investigation taken up as the offence by the unknown person under Sections 34(1)(a)(g) and 34(2) of the Excise Act for possession/manufacturing illicit liquor.
