Coimbatore: Techie commits suicide after losing money in online trading

Chennai: A 24-year-old IT professional allegedly committed suicide at his house in Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district after losing a huge amount of money in online trading and gambling. The deceased has been identified as Ranjit Kumar, son of Rajagopal (mason) and Bhuvaneswari. He was a resident of Kathir Nagar in Semmozhi, Anna Nagar. He was employed with an IT firm near Hope College in Peelamedu. According to preliminary reports, Ranjit Kumar had lost up to Rs 3 lakh in online trading and gambling, due to which he was mentally disturbed.
He had earlier undergone treatment at a private hospital for mental health. On July 13, Ranjit Kumar had tried to commit suicide but was rescued by his family and rushed to the hospital. However, on Sunday morning, Ranjit Kumar was found hanging from a noose in a room of his house. His family admitted him to a private hospital in Coimbatore, where doctors declared him dead. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
