Coca-Cola’s AI experiment in advertising a total failure? Giving rise to controversy
Technology: In the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence, a recent move by Coca-Cola has stirred more controversy than excitement. Coca-Cola, one of the world’s most famous beverage brands, recently launched a series of ads created entirely by AI. However, these ads have faced widespread criticism and skepticism on social media platforms.
Forbes revealed that these AI-powered Christmas ads have become the subject of ridicule and hesitation among social media audiences. The creative work was created using advanced AI techniques by companies such as Secret Level, Silverside AI and Wild Card. AI models including Leonardo, Luma, Runway and Kling were used to inspire these ads. Despite the intention to showcase innovative marketing, the response has been overwhelmingly mocking and cautious.
Beyond the playful AI ads, the competitive tech landscape is heating up internationally. Many major Chinese tech companies such as Alibaba, Bytedance and Meituan are expanding their tech reach in Silicon Valley with the aim of enhancing their AI capabilities. According to the Financial Times, these companies are strategically acquiring expertise from US firms to stay ahead in the ever-increasing AI race. This expansion is also taking place amid US efforts to limit AI chip exports to China.
As investors look for platform AI stocks, ON Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ:ON) is one such potential investment, ranking 12th among trending AI stocks. KeyBanc analyst John Vinh pointed to ON’s upcoming platform Treo as a potential revenue driver in 2025, although he also said other AI stocks could deliver faster and higher returns.
