Group of five elephants creating ruckus
A group of five elephants is creating a ruckus in the forest of Marwahi adjacent to the Achanakmar Tiger Reserve. Similar is the situation in Ambikapur area. Two days ago, a group of 6 elephants present in Chhaparwa range of Achanakmar Tiger Reserve has also started a stir. They had reached near the village but due to the vigilance of the villagers, they did not enter the village.
Due to ready crops in Marwahi and Ambikapur area, the attack of elephants has increased. The group of 5 elephants has been divided into 2 groups in Marwahi Forest Division. Two elephants are present in Ghusuria beet and a group of three elephants are present in Marwahi beet. Elephants have not come towards the village since two days but are damaging the crops in the fields. Paddy is the favorite food of elephants. The summer paddy is cooked. It has also been cut and kept at some places. In such a situation, elephants are coming towards the village to eat it. Apart from this, the season of Mahua has also ended recently. Villagers in the tribal areas also make liquor from Mahua, elephants are attracted to that too. As soon as the elephant menace started in Marwahi forest division, the ATR management started preparing for the rescue of their village.
