CMC special squad fines food sellers for selling stale food in Cuttack Bali Yatra

Cuttack: As Bali Yatra spree takes over, people from far off places to Cuttack are making a visit to relish the food items, enjoy the giant wheels, shop in the exhibition stalls. Keeping in view of the quality of food being sold at Bali Yatra, special squads of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) were formed to keep a check on food quality at the historical Cuttack Bali Yatra 2024. The CMC formed as many as eight special squads to check quality of food twice daily.

Much to the chagrin of the visitors and foodies, the food stalls were found to sell stale food and left over food. Many of the sellers were found to sell food of the previous day to avoid wastage of food. The special squads fined many of the food sellers and disposed off the stale food.

The eight teams shall be distributed in the upper and lower Bali Yatra grounds. Six teams will inspect the food stalls in the upper and lower grounds. Two other teams shall be deployed in the upper ground to receive complaints from visitors. They will inspect the food on receiving the complaint and shall initiate appropriate action.

Further the CMC shall release contact numbers on which visitors can lodge their complaints relating to the bad quality of food. The number will be clearly displayed at various locations clearly. A large amount of food had been destroyed by the CMC officials as it was stale and unfit for consumption from the fair last year. A huge amount of food items approximately two quintals such as noodles, biryani, momos, chaat etc. had been thrown away by the officials during the food inspection in Bali Yatra last year.
