CM Vijay visits Fort St George heritage sites

Chennai, May 23:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Friday visited key heritage monuments inside Fort St George, nearly 12 days after assuming office, marking his first such tour of the historic administrative complex.
Fort St George, one of the oldest administrative centres in India and home to the State Secretariat, houses several important government offices and heritage structures. During his visit, Vijay first stopped at St Mary’s Church, one of the oldest churches in the country, located within the fort premises.
He later visited the museum operated by the Archaeological Survey of India, where officials briefed him on the historical importance of the fort and the artefacts preserved there. The Chief Minister moved around the campus using a battery-operated vehicle arranged by the Greater Chennai Corporation.
The visit, which lasted nearly half an hour, drew the attention of TVK cadres, Secretariat staff and members of the public, many of whom gathered along the route to greet the Chief Minister.
