CM Stalin: Under the Dravidian model, Tamil Nadu will be in first place in all sectors by 2031.

Chennai: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said on Saturday that Tamil Nadu will become India’s number one state in all sectors by 2031, when his envisioned “Dravidian Model 2.0” is fully implemented. In a post on the social media platform X, he highlighted Tamil Nadu’s current economic performance, stating that the state has topped the country with a 16 percent growth rate in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). He said this achievement is particularly significant because Tamil Nadu is neither among the largest states in terms of area nor population, and it has not received disproportionate assistance from the central government.
Stalin said that Tamil Nadu has registered consistent and high growth over the past three years, a trend also reflected in the data released by the Reserve Bank of India. Between the financial years 2021 and 2025, the state’s economy expanded by approximately ₹10.5 lakh crore, bringing the total value of the economy to ₹31.19 lakh crore. He said that Tamil Nadu’s growth rate has surpassed that of other developed large states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat. The Chief Minister added that the state’s performance in per capita income growth also remains strong. Expressing confidence in the development model being pursued by his government, Stalin said that Tamil Nadu’s success demonstrates the effectiveness of the Dravidian Model. He stated that the goal is to ensure that by 2031, Tamil Nadu will not lag behind any other state in any sector, but rather set the national benchmark for development.
