Clothing merchant assaulted in bus, three arrested
Badaun. A joint team of Civil Lines police station and SOG has arrested three people for tampering with a cloth merchant in a roadways bus. More than Rs 2 lakh cash, pistols, cartridges and bikes have been recovered from the miscreants. The search is on for two absconding criminals involved in the gang.
Additional Superintendent of Police Dehat Rammohan Singh told journalists that a joint team of Civil Line police station and SOG has arrested three members of a vicious gang of smugglers from the Forest Department Road following a tip-off. These include Ajit, Gaurav, resident of Kayamganj in Farrukhabad district and Ravi, who lives near Qadri Gate. Dilip and Mahendra of Kayamganj are also included in this gang, who escaped after dodging the police. Police teams are also busy in arresting both the absconding criminals. ASP said that apart from the Civil Line police station, cases are registered against all these five fraudsters in many other police stations also.
ASP said that the arrested miscreants had snatched the bag full of money of Krishna Arora, a resident of Punjab state, near the Roadways Bus Stand on February 3. In this case, the victim had given a complaint to the Civil Line police station. It was told that after collecting from Badaun, he was going to Bareilly with money in his bag. As soon as he boarded the roadways bus, two suspects attacked him and took away a bag full of currency notes. The police are interrogating the arrested toppers to find out from where else they have committed the topper incidents. Two lakh 24 thousand rupees, two pistols with four cartridges, a knife and the bike used in the incident have been recovered from the possession of the miscreants.
