Clerk-cum-accountant arrested by Vigilance for embezzling public money

Bargarh: Odisha Vigilance continues to take action against the corrupt public servants as today it has arrested a clerk-cum-accountant on charges of embezzling public money to the tune of Rs 31,47,685.
The arrested official has been identified as Dhruba Charan Sahu, the Clerk-cum-Accountant of Lakhanpur PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies) in Bargarh district.
The Vigilance sleuths arrested Sahu for embezzling public money to the tune of Rs.31,47,685 for not depositing the said collected loan repayment amount by abusing his official power and manipulating the Day Book of the Society by showing less closing balance during the financial year 2019-20.
After arresting the clerk-cum-accountant, the anti-corruption team forwarded him to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Bargarh.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.2 dt.17.03.2025 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) PC (Amendment) Act,2018 has been registered against Dhruba Charan Sahu.
Investigation into the case continues.
Earlier in the day, Md. Firoz Khan, the Accountant-cum-Supporting Staff of the office of Block Education Officer (BEO) of Rajkanika in Kendrapara district has been apprehended by the Vigilance sleuths for taking undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 20,000 from a complainant in lieu of passing bill amount of Rs 1.93 Lakhs and for releasing the balance amount of an SHG who had already supplied school uniforms to Schools of Rajkanika Block as per terms and conditions of the government.
