China Woman Buys Love Insurance for $28, Claims $1400 After 10 Years of Marriage

Shaanxi: A woman in China has hit the jackpot by taking out a love insurance policy. A girl named Wu from Shaanxi province in central China took out love insurance for 199 yuan, or $28, in 2016. However, after ten years of dating, she married her boyfriend. With that love policy, she withdrew 10,000 yuan, or $1,400. Wu and Wang registered their marriage in 2025. The couple, who studied at the same university, have been in a relationship since 2015.

While dating, she bought a love insurance policy for 199 yuan as a gift for her boyfriend. China Life Property Insurance Company offered love insurance at a very low price as part of a discount. Couples who take out love insurance can close their policy after three years. However, after ten years of maturity, the couple is given ten thousand roses or a 0.5 carat diamond ring. If they do not want both, they are given ten thousand yuan in cash. But it is known that this love insurance policy was discontinued in 2017.
