Chief Minister: Government is working on setting up medical hub in the state

C Agartala: In a bid to boost the education and health sector of the state, Tripura Chief Minister Professor Dr Manik Saha on Sunday said that various organizations including investors from outside the state are expressing interest in investing in the educational and health sectors in Tripura . Dr. Saha made this announcement while inaugurating the National Dentist Day Celebrations and 22nd Annual Dental Conference at Pragya Bhawan, Agartala. The event was organized by National Oral Health Programme, National Health Mission Tripura and Indian Dental Association. “The establishment of Agartala Government Dental College has fulfilled a long-standing dream of the people of the state. This is a milestone in the field of higher education in the state. The infrastructure of this college is in no way inferior to dental colleges in other states. The equipment of these dental colleges and hospitals should be treated as our own. It is everyone’s responsibility to keep the hospital clean,” said Dr Saha. Dr. Saha expressed hope that with joint efforts this Dental College will be established as a center of excellence in future. “The present government has planned to create medical hubs in the state. Various organizations from outside the state are expressing interest in setting up educational and health institutions in the state. “Many educational institutions as well as advanced health institutions have already been developed in the state.” The Chief Minister declared today a day to honor and remember those who have contributed in ensuring the rights and self-respect of dentists in the state. “Dentists must also stay abreast of new scientific advances in dentistry. For the overall development of medical services in the state, the government has launched a scheme to implement the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana, similar to the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana of the Central Government. An annual expenditure of Rs 59 crore has been allocated in the budget for this purpose. Apart from this, resources have also been allocated in the budget for the construction of 100 sub-health centers in the state. A cardiac care unit has been opened at Dhalai District Hospital to provide advanced health services,” he said. State’s renowned dentist Rana Balbir Jung was honored in a function organized on the occasion of National Dentist Day. Health Secretary Dr. Sandeep R. Rathore, Secretary of Tripura branch of Indian Dental Association Sajal Nath, Health Director Dr. Supriya Malik, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department Dr. Anjan Kumar Das and Director of Medical Education Dr. HP Sharma were present.
